A Love Note on Lifting Each Other Up ✊🏾✨

We are all we Got! Let’s unite. Lets build!

It’s a powerful time to be Black. We’re witnessing a beautiful renaissance of ownership, creativity, and institution-building within our community. From the Black entrepreneur launching her skincare line to the HBCU receiving a historic donation, our collective power is undeniable.

And a key part of that power is giving back to Black causes. When we invest in us, we:

· Fuel the Ecosystem: Our dollars and support create jobs, fund educations, and build generational wealth that stays within our community.
· Amplify Our Voices: We ensure our stories are told by us, for us, from film studios to publishing houses.
· Create Safer Spaces: We fund the organizations that protect our health, our rights, and our well-being in a world that doesn’t always prioritize them.

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Sometimes we hear the question: “Why don’t Black people support each other more?”

I see it differently. The question isn’t about a lack of love or desire. Our history in this country—from systemic divestment to the painful scars of trauma—has sometimes forced a mindset of scarcity. It’s not that we won’t support each other; it’s that systems were designed to make it difficult to trust, to pool resources, and to see our collective success as a single victory.

But that is the old story. We are writing a new one.

The narrative is shifting from “scarcity” to “abundance.” We are unlearning the lie that there’s only one seat at the table. We are building our own tables, and there is a place for everyone.

So let’s focus not on the “why we don’t,” but on the “how we are.”

· We are supporting each other by championing Black-owned businesses.
· We are supporting each other by mentoring the next generation.
· We are supporting each other by donating to bail funds, community fridges, and scholarship funds.

Every time we choose us, we break a chain. We are not a monolith, but we are a mighty force. Let’s keep pouring into our own cup, because it is overflowing.
